Bienemann & White Lead Generals to 115-106 Win Over E&H

EMORY, Va. – Washington and Lee senior forward Greg Bienemann (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and sophomore forward Zac White (Baltimore, Md./Park School) both tallied career-high point totals as the Generals defeated Emory & Henry 115-106 in ODAC men's basketball action on Wednesday evening at the King Center.

The Generals (8-5, 4-2) shot 69.9 percent (51-73) from the floor in claiming their first win at Emory & Henry in 10 years and improving to 8-2 in their last 10 games this season.

The first half featured five ties and four lead changes with the Wasps (4-10, 0-7) opening up the biggest advantage for either team when they led 25-17 with 11:30 left. However, W&L chipped away at the E&H advantage for the remainder of the half and cut it to a 54-52 Wasp lead at the break.

The Generals opened the second stanza with an 8-0 run to assume a 60-54 lead with 18:54 remaining and never trailed again in the contest. W&L did not lead by more than 10 points in the final 20 minutes, but hit 7-of-8 from the foul line in the final 4:50 to hang on for the win.

Bienemann led the Generals with a career-high 36 points on 16-of-23 shooting from the field. He also grabbed nine rebounds. White notched a career-best 26 points on 12-of-13 shooting from the floor, while senior forward Femi Kusimo (Cross Lanes, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) posted 22 points on 10-of-11 shooting. He also totaled seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals.

Emory & Henry wad led by guard Andrew Hart's 23 points. Guard Camillo Weinz registered 19 points, while forward Kyle Huckins added 12 points.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Lynchburg College for a 5:30 pm contest.
