LEXINGTON, Va. – Sophomore forward Brittany Dahn (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) tallied 16 points and nine rebounds as Lynchburg downed Washington and Lee, 62-53, in ODAC women's basketball action on Friday evening at the Warner Center.
The Generals (4-9, 3-5) scored the first seven points of the contest, however, Lynchburg rattled off an 18-2 run to take an 18-9 advantage with 6:55 remaining in the opening half. The Generals cut the lead to one, 18-17, at 4:18, but the Hornets held on for a five-point lead at the break.
W&L began the second half with a 10-4 spurt to take a 31-30 lead with 17:05 to play in the contest, but that would be its only lead of the second half as LC subsequently out-scored W&L, 16-5, over the next 5:58 to take a 10-point lead (46-36) at 11:47. The Generals managed to cut it to a three-point game (50-47) on a trey from senior forward Amanda Kane (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson), but the Hornets went six-for-six from the charity stripe in the final 4:11 to hold on for the win.
The Blue and White were paced by Kane, senior forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy) and junior guard Bethany Ridenhour (Westwood, N.J./Holy Angels), who each had nine points. Krouchick also added a team-high eight rebounds and five assists.
Lynchburg (8-4, 5-2) was lead by Dahn, who also registered a team-high four assists, to go with her 16 points. Freshman guard Courtney Brewer (Culpeper, Va./Highland) posted 13 points, 11 in the second stanza, while sophomore guard Chevonne Booker (Richmond, Va./Thomas Jefferson) added 11 markers.
The Generals return to action on Saturday, hosting Randolph at 4:30 pm.
