HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Eastern Mennonite recovered from a 12-point first half deficit to post a 71-62 victory over Washington and Lee ODAC women's basketball on Tuesday evening at Yoder Arena in Harrisonburg, Va.
The Generals (4-8, 3-4) held a 24-12 lead with 8:16 remaining in the first half, but EMU used an 11-0 run to cut W&L's advantage to one point, (24-23), with 5:50 remaining. The Generals responded with an 11-1 run and led 35-24 with 3:26 left, but the Royals closed out the first stanza with a 10-2 run to make it a three point game at the break, 37-34.
EMU (9-4, 5-2) scored the first six points of the second half and took the lead 40-37 at 17:58 and never trailed for the rest of the game. The Royals led by as many as 14, (61-47), with 7:06 to play en route to the nine point victory.
The Generals were paced by junior guard Bethany Ridenhour (Westwood, N.J./Holy Angels), who amassed a season-high 19 points. Sophomore center Kaitlyn Kamp (Bloomington, Minn./Lutheran) racked up 12 points, while senior Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy) chipped in 11 points and grabbed a season-high five steals.
Junior forward Caroyln Riley led four Royals in double figures with 20 points and grabbed seven boards. Sophomore guard Ebony Dennis added 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while senior center Jolene Kratz registered 15 points and 12 rebounds. Senior guard Tara Jones chipped in 10 points.
Washington and Lee returns to ODAC action as they host Lynchburg on Friday for a 7:00 pm game.
