LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team notched its third-straight win with a 2-0 non-conference victory over St. Mary's (Md.) on Sunday afternoon at Watt Field.
The Generals (8-2) took a 1-0 advantage in the 30th minute after a St. Mary's foul led to a free kick by junior defender Marisa Van Brunt (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville), which found the back of the net. W&L then upped its lead in the second half as senior midfielder Haley Bunting (Houston, Texas/St. John's) scored on a looping shot just under the crossbar in the 68th minute.
W&L owned a 22-9 edge in shots and a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior goalkeeper Kiki Moreo (Westport, Conn./Staples) made three saves for the Generals, while junior goalkeeper Marie Oben (Glenn Dale, Md./St. Mary's) stopped nine shots for St. Mary's (4-7).
The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Guilford for a 4:00 pm contest.
