LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior midfielder Josh Dodds (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) notched a hat trick as Washington and Lee posted a 5-0 win over Guilford in ODAC men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.

Dodds registered two first-half goals to help the Generals take a 2-0 lead in the opening 21 minutes of the contest. Freshman midfielder James Pymm (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's) found the back of the net in the 37th minute to give the Generals a 3-0 lead at the half. Dodds then opened the second stanza with his third tally at 59:14 and senior midfielder Travis Short (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill) added the final W&L goal with just 2:41 to play.

W&L (3-1-2, 1-0-1) held a 21-7 edge in shots and a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior Ted Sheedy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) played the opening 60 minutes of the contest in goal for the Blue and White and tallied two saves. Freshman Benjamin Bartlett (Towson, Md./McDonogh) spelled Sheedy for the final 30 minutes and made three saves.

Netminder Beau Arceneaux (Rockwall, Texas/Rockwall) tallied eight saves for Guilford (3-6, 1-2).

The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Randolph-Macon for a 4:00 pm contest.
