W&L Volleyball Splits Contests Against Bridgewater and Gallaudet

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team hosted a tri-match on Saturday at the Warner Center, falling to Bridgewater, 30-24, 30-26, 30-25, and defeating Gallaudet, 30-28, 30-26, 30-21. The loss to Bridgewater snapped W&L's regular-season conference winning streak that had reached 62-straight matches dating back to the 2000 season.

 In the loss to Bridgewater (7-0, 2-0), the Generals were led by junior middle blocker Kassie Bagley (Midlothian, Va./James River), who notched 10 kills and five blocks. Junior right side Jessica Ulrich (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) and junior outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) posted nine kills each, while senior right side Jess Hudock (Tampa, Fla./Holy Names) tallied a team-best 11 digs. Sophomore setter Kristi Stevens (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission South) added 19 assists and nine digs.

 In the win over Gallaudet (5-5), Ulrich paced the Generals (3-3, 0-1) with 14 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) recorded 12 kills, while Stevens added 19 assists. Also for the Generals, Bagley tallied six blocks.

The Generals continue ODAC action on Wednesday as they travel to Sweet Briar for a 6:30 pm contest.
