Junior forward Anne Van Devender (Jackson, Miss./Choate Rosemary Hall) tallied one goal and assisted on the game-winner as the Washington and Lee women's soccer team posted a 4-1 win over Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Va.

After a scoreless first half, the Generals (3-1, 2-0) got on the board when Van Devender scored unassisted in the 59th minute. Randolph-Macon (2-4, 0-2) countered with a goal from Brittany Jones nine minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 with less than 24 minutes to play in the contest.

However, junior midfielder Katie Kern (Charleston, W. Va./Charleston Catholic) headed the ball into the net off a cross from Van Devender to give W&L the lead for good at 70:54. Seniors Mary Clair Turner (Lexington, Ky./Sayre School) and Diana Dozier (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) helped pad the Generals' lead with scores at 74:52 and 88:21, respectively.

W&L held a 31-2 advantage in shots and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

Junior goalkeeper Kiki Moreo (Westport, Conn./Staples) played the duration for W&L and did not register a save. Mary Jocelyn minded the net for the Yellow Jackets, posting nine saves.

The Generals continue their 2007 campaign on Sunday as they take on Greensboro at 2:00 pm at Watt Field.
