LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee wrestling team defeated Newport News Apprentice School, 21-15, on Saturday morning at the Warner Center.
With the victory, the Generals improve to 8-3, which is the most wins in a season since the 1986-1987 campaign (9-5).
Juniors David Shubick (Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook) and Jesse Sataloff (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) and freshman Sammy Brusca (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) all registered wins in the meet.
Shubick, wrestling at 133 pounds, defeated Charles Owuzu, 12-8, while Sataloff (184 lbs) took a 4-2 victory over Justin Gillard (Virginia Beach, Va./Green Run). Brusca defeated Kevin Hill (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Smith), 8-6, in the 125-pound bout.
The Generals return to the mat on Saturday when they compete in the Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Gettysburg College at 11:00 am.
