W&L Volleyball Sweeps Emory & Henry, 3-0

ROANOKE, Va. – The second-seeded Washington and Lee volleyball team continued on its unbeaten path of 23-consecutive wins after a 30-19, 30-17, 30-12 triumph over seventh-seeded Emory and Henry in the quarterfinals of the 2007 ODAC Volleyball Tournament on Friday evening at Hollins University.

The Blue and White were paced by junior outside hitter Laura Maurer's (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) 10 kills, 11 digs and three service aces, while senior right side Jess Hudock (Tampa, Fla.Holy Names) amassed seven kills, 11 digs and eight service aces. Sophomore outside hitter Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) registered 10 kills, while senior setter Lauren Rudolph (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) added 17 assists and seven digs. Junior right side Jessica Ulrich (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) tallied seven kills and sophomore setter Kristi Stevens (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission So.) chipped in 20 assists and four digs.

With the loss, Emory and Henry wraps up its season with a 19-8 overall record.

The Generals (27-5) advance to the semifinals and will take on sixth-seeded Randolph-Macon on Saturday at 10:30 am at Hollins University.
