W&L Volleyball Defeats Roanoke, 3-0

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee volleyball team upped its record to 15-5 overall and 5-1 in the ODAC with a 30-16, 30-21, 30-19 win over Roanoke College Tuesday evening at the Warner Center.

The Blue and White were led by junior outside hitter Laura Maurer's (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) 18 kills and eight digs, while sophomore outside hitter Rachel Phillips (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) notched 14 kills and six digs. Sophomore setter Kristi Stevens (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission, So.) registered 27 assists and nine digs, while junior rightside Jessica Ulrich (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) chipped in 12 digs.

With the loss, the Maroons are now 14-10 overall and 4-3 in the ODAC.

The Generals continue competition this weekend at the Christopher Newport Tournament. W&L will start the tournament Friday by taking on ODAC foe Virginia Wesleyan at 1:00 pm.
