LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior forward Anne Van Devender (Jackson, Miss./Choate Rosemary Hall) tallied a first-half hat trick to lead the 25th-ranked Washington and Lee women's soccer team to a 10-0 win over Sweet Briar at Watt Field on Tuesday afternoon.
With her three scores, Van Devender became just the fourth player in W&L women's soccer history to notch 100 career points as she now owns 42 career goals and 19 career assists (103 career points).
Van Devender registered three of the first four goals of the contest to give W&L a 4-0 lead in the 25th minute and the Generals never looked back as they rolled to the 10-0 final.
Van Devender was supported in the scoring column by senior forward Shana Oltmans (Albuquerque, N.M./Valley), who notched two goals, and freshman midfielder Laura Yungmeyer's (Kingsport, Tenn./Dobyns Bennett) two helpers.
Freshman goalkeeper Taylor Joosten (Chicago, Ill/St. Ignatius College Prep) faced two shots, but did not register a save for W&L (11-2, 6-1). Junior goalkeeper Kristen Johnson (Federal Way, Wash./Decatur) made 19 saves for the Vixens (2-10, 0-7).
The Generals return to action on Saturday when they travel to Methodist for a 2:00 pm contest.
