LEXINGTON, Va. - The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee women's soccer team posted its fifth-straight shutout victory with a 1-0 blanking of Christopher Newport on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.

The Generals got on the board early in the first half when junior forward Anne Van Devender (Jackson, Miss./Choate Rosemary Hall) dished the ball to junior midfielder Katie Kern (Charleston, W.Va./Charleston Catholic), who slipped the ball past CNU goalkeeper Erin Wojtkun (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) in the sixth minute, and W&L held on for the win.

With the victory, junior goalkeeper Kiki Moreo (Westport, Conn./Staples) notched her 31st career shutout and ranks first all-time at W&L in that category. Moreo made four saves, while Wojtkun tallied five stops.

The Generals improved to 10-2 with the win, while the Captains fell to 7-4 with the loss.
