LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior forward Jack Palmer (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) scored the game's lone goal as the Washington and Lee men's soccer team eked out a 1-0 victory over Roanoke on Saturday morning at Watt Field.
After Roanoke's Michael Rouhana (Riverdale, Md./Henry Sibley) earned a red card in the 32nd minute, the Maroons were forced to play with a man down and the Generals capitalized on the advantage with the contest's only tally as Palmer scored at 56:06.
Senior goalkeeper Ted Sheedy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) picked up his 13th career shutout as he made three saves on the day. Senior netminder Austin Rose (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg) notched five saves for RC.
The Generals improved to 7-1-2 (4-0-1 ODAC) with the conference win, while Roanoke falls to 8-4 (4-1 ODAC) with the loss.
W&L returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Ferrum for a 4:00 pm contest.
