Box Score 2 MARYVILLE, Tenn. –The Washington and Lee volleyball team tied the program record for consecutive victories with a pair of wins at the Maryville Tournament on Friday evening. The Generals downed Rhodes, 30-21, 30-28, 30-20, before defeating Maryville, 30-21, 30-17, 30-24 in the nightcap to stretch their winning streak to 21-straight matches.
In the victory over Rhodes (17-13), the Generals were led by senior right side Jess Hudock's (Tampa, Fla./Holy Names) 13 digs, eight kills and three service aces, while sophomore outside hitter Rachael Phillips (Tampa Fla./Tampa Prep) tallied 15 kills and five digs. Junior right side Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) amassed 15 digs and nine kills, while junior right side Jessica Ulrich (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) chipped in 10 digs and eight kills.
Additionally, freshman outside hitter Marah Schmitz (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) tallied 12 digs and senior setter Lauren Rudolph (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) added 13 digs and 18 assists. Sophomore setter Kristi Stevens (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission So.) added 11 digs and 18 assists.
In the win over Maryville (18-11), W&L was paced by Phillips' 12 kills and four digs, while Hudock added 10 kills and five digs. Maurer recorded nine kills and seven digs, while junior middle blocker Kassie Bagley (Midlothian, Va./James River) racked-up five kills and seven blocks. Stevens added 13 digs and 19 assists, while Rudolph registered 15 assists and four digs.
The Blue and White (25-5) return to action on Saturday as they take on University of Cumberlands at 12:30 pm.
