LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee played Hampden-Sydney to a 1-1 double-overtime draw in ODAC men's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at Watt Field.
The Generals (10-2-3, 6-1-2) took a 1-0 lead in the first half as junior midfielder Tommy Pignatelli (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) slid one past H-SC goalkeeper John Robert Plyler (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) in the 30th minute.
However, the Tigers (10-5-3, 6-1-2) found an equalizer in the second half as sophomore forward Will Robertson (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) scored at 53:06 to send the game to overtime, but neither team could find the back of the net in the extra sessions.
Senior Ted Sheedy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) recorded seven saves for W&L, including several in the overtime periods. Plyler racked up nine saves for H-SC.
The contest concluded the regular season for both teams. With the tie, the Generals will most likely be the third seed in the 2007 ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament and will host the sixth seed on Saturday. Game time and opponent have yet to be determined.
