Women's Soccer vs. Lynchburg

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 23rd-ranked Washington and Lee women's soccer team posted its ninth-straight victory with a 2-0 win over Lynchburg on Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field.

After a scoreless first half, a cross by junior forward Anne Van Devender (Jackson, Miss./Choate Rosemary Hall) was deflected into the goal by a Lynchburg defender to give the Generals a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute.

W&L added an insurance score with less than five minutes to play in the contest when two-straight shots from freshman midfielder Caroline Lamberti (Oakton, Va./Paul VI) ricocheted off the post and Van Devender booted in the rebound from close range.

Junior goalkeeper Kiki Moreo (Westport, Conn./Staples) tallied five saves for W&L as she picked the shutout-win. Freshman netminder Jackie Bader (Fort Washington, Md./Bishop Ireton) made two saves for the Hornets.

With the win, W&L improves to 14-2 (8-1 ODAC), while LC falls to 13-3-1 (7-2 ODAC) with the loss.

The Generals travel to Salem, Va., on Saturday to take on Roanoke at 7:00 pm.
