W&L Field Hockey Handles Sweet Briar, 3-0

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Washington and Lee field hockey team improved its record to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the ODAC after a 3-0 victory over Sweet Briar on Thursday afternoon at the Boathouse Road Field.

After a scoreless first half, the Generals got on board when sophomore forward Sallie Armstrong (Houston, Texas./St. John's School) found the back of the cage at 43:57. Just over a minute later, junior defender Liz Garson (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) found senior midfielder Kay Dyt (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes), who slipped a shot past SBC goalkeeper Laura Wolf at 45:16. Sophomore forward Guada Suarez (Mar del Plata, Argentina/Holy Trinity College) rounded out the scoring for the Blue and White at 67:01.

Senior Tara Rubenstein (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) and sophomore Caroline Habliston (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) split time in the cage, combining to make six saves. Cat Cox and Laura wolf also shared time in the cage for the Vixens (2-9, 0-6), combining to make 17 saves.

The Generals return to competition on Saturday as they travel to St. Mary's (Md.) for a 4:00 pm contest.
