FERRUM, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to nine contests with a 2-0 victory over Ferrum on Wednesday afternoon in Ferrum, Va.
The Generals (8-1-2) got on the board in the first half as senior midfielder Travis Short (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill) found the back of the net off a corner kick taken by junior midfielder Tommy Pignatelli (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) at 20:10. W&L then added an insurance goal in the second half when senior midfielder Josh Dodds (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) notched an unassisted tally in the 83rd minute.
Senior goalkeeper Jim Tartaglia (Richmond, Va./J.R. Tucker) played the duration in goal for W&L, making one save in the win. Matt Parrish registered two stops for the Panthers (2-9-1).
The Generals return to action on Saturday when they travel to Bridgewater for a 3:00 pm match.
