GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- The Washington and Lee wrestling team went 2-1 at the Gettysburg Quadrangular on Saturday afternoon at the Bream Gymnasium. The Generals defeated Centennial-rival Gettysburg, 27-19, and Waynesburg, 43-12, but fell to Washington & Jefferson, 28-15.
W&L (2-1, 1-0) was led by junior David Shubick (Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook), who went 3-0 on the afternoon with one win coming on a forfeit. Shubick, competing at 133 pounds, beat Waynesburg's Abdul Yuseff, 12-5, and Richard Masella of Gettysburg on a technical fall, 18-2.
Freshman Sammy Brusca (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) also went 3-0 on the day with all three of his wins coming by virtue of forfeit.
The Generals return to the mat on Sat., Jan. 13 when they host the W&L Invitational. The meet begins at 10:00 am.
