LEXINGTON, Va. -- Johns Hopkins eked out an 18-17 victory over the Washington and Lee wrestling team in a Centennial Conference dual meet on Saturday afternoon.

W&L led 17-15 going into the final bout of the day, but JHU's Tyler Schmidt (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) defeated junior Kirk Adamson (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's), 5-0, in the 197-pound weight class to give the Blue Jays (4-9, 2-3) the one-point win.

Freshman Sammy Brusca (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep), and juniors Peter Lawrence (Greenwich, Conn./Loomis-Chaffee) and Anthony Boniello (Katonah, N.Y./Somers) all recorded wins in the meet.

Brusca, competing at 125 pounds, took a major decision, 17-2, over Michael Sumner (Orange, Conn./Hopkins School). Lawrence (157 pounds) registered an 8-6 win over James Crumlish (Blue Bell, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy), while Boniello scored a 5-2 victory at 165 pounds over Kyle Keane (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip).

Junior David Shubick (Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook) also tallied points for the Blue and White with his win by forfeit at 133 pounds.

The Generals (5-3, 3-2) return to the mat on Saturday when they host McDaniel, Muhlenberg and Ursinus at the W&L Quad. The meet will begin at 11 a.m.
