ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team competed in the second day of the Emory Tournament on Saturday and was defeated in both of its outings, first by Carthage, 17-30, 26-30, 18-30, and then by Randolph-Macon, 25-30, 25-30, 27-30.

In the loss to Carthage, W&L was led by sophomore outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII), who notched nine kills and eight digs, and senior libero Lauren Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge), who added a team-high 14 digs. Junior setter Lauren Rudolph (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) also contributed 14 assists and seven digs.

The loss to Randolph-Macon snapped the Generals' streak of wins over ODAC opponents at 81-straight. However, W&L has still triumphed over its conference foes in regular-season play 55-straight times, with their last regular-season ODAC loss being to Roanoke in 2000.

In the defeat by the Yellow Jackets, the Generals were paced by Maurer's 11 kills and eight digs. Junior right side Jess Hudock (Tampa, Fla./Holy Names) registered nine digs and three blocks, while senior outside hitter Ashley Hurt (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Trinity Prep) totaled nine kills. Rudolph had 21 assists and two aces in the loss.

The Generals (8-4, 3-0 ODAC) look to avenge their loss to the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday when they host R-MC at 7 pm at the Warner Center.
