W&L MEN'S SOCCER KEEPS STREAK ALIVE WITH 2-0 WIN OVER BRIDGEWATER

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's soccer team used a goal in each half as they upped their unbeaten streak to five games with a 2-0 victory over Bridgewater in ODAC men's soccer action on Tuesday at Watt Field.

The contest was scoreless until the 39th minute of action when freshman midfielder Drew Crowley (Weston, Mass./Weston) found the back of the net off an assist from senior defender Scot Pittman (Waxhaw, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) to give the Generals a 1-0 lead going into the break.

W&L, who had not beaten Bridgewater since 2001, notched its second score of the match just 61 seconds after Bridgewater's Kevin Milluzzi (Cleveland, Ohio/Columbia) received his second yellow card of the match and was ejected at 49:26. Senior forward Kyle Garcia (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) iced the game with his score at 50:27 off an assist from junior midfielder Josh Dodds (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Marr).

Junior Ted Sheedy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) played the entire game for the Blue and White, picking up his second shutout of the 2006 season and notching four saves. Senior Mitch Hammersley (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) made 10 saves for BC (2-4, 0-1 ODAC) in the loss.

The Generals (5-0, 1-0 ODAC) look to improve to 6-0 for the first time since 2000 when they travel to Hampden-Syndey, Va. to take on the Tigers at 11 am.
