ASHLAND, Va. -- Junior midfielder Kendall Korte (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) scored three goals and sophomore forward Christina Merchant (Midlothian, Va./Collegiate) totaled two goals and one assist in leading Washington and Lee to a 6-2 victory over Randolph-Macon in ODAC Field Hockey action on Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Va.

The Generals (3-0, 1-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 5:12 into the contest as Merchant found the cage off a feed from junior midfielder Kay Dyt (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes). The Yellow Jackets evened the score at 1-1 on a goal by Jill Dixon off an assist from Bristol Bowman at the 23:42 mark, but Korte gave the Generals the lead for good with a pair of goals before halftime for a 3-1 lead at the break. Goals by Korte, Merchant and sophomore Katie Flippen (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) after the half gave W&L a 6-1 lead, before Dixon capped the scoring with her second goal of the day for R-MC (1-3, 1-1) at 59:09.

Sophomore Tara Rubenstein (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) played the first 55:31 in goal for the Generals, recording eight stops. Freshman Caroline Habliston (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) played the final 14:29, allowing one goal.

Ashley Crouch and Traci Phipps both played in goal for the Yellow Jackets, combining for five saves.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday as it travels to McDaniel College for a 12:00 pm contest.
