LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Junior forward Martha Caulkins (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) notched three goals and an assist as the Washington and Lee women's soccer team opened up Old Dominion Athletic Conference play with an 11-0 win over Randolph-Macon Woman's College on Wednesday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va.
The Generals, who are undefeated through three games, opened the scoring in the second minute when sophomore midfielder Kate Corr (Shrewsbury, N.J./Red Bank Regional) found the back of the net off an assist from Caulkins. W&L then scored four more times to take a 5-0 lead into the half.
Senior midfielder Cara Burton (Spring, Texas/Klein Oak) opened the scoring in the second half at 46:10 with assists from sophomore forward Erica Giordano (Cranford, N.J./Mount Saint Mary Academy) and junior midfielder Mary Clair Turner (Lexington, Ky./Sayre School). The Generals then added five more goals, capped off by an unassisted tally from freshman midfielder Roz Klann (Denver, Colo./George Washington), her first collegiate goal, at 78:24 to send W&L to the 11-0 win.
Cauklins led W&L with seven points (3g, 1a) while sophomore forward Anne Van Devender (Jackson, Miss./Choate Rosemary Hall) had two goals and one assist and Burton had a pair of goals.
Senior Emily Binns (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) and sophomore Kiki Moreo (Westport, Conn./Staples) shared regulation in the goal for the Generals, each notching one save. Kate Descoteaux and Sarah Frizzell played between the pipes for the Wildcats, combining for 13 saves.
The Generals continue their conference schedule on Saturday, hosting Randolph-Macon at 3 pm at Watt Field.
