HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney had four players score in double figures in posting an 84-63 victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon in Hampden-Sydney, Va.
The Generals (2-17, 2-12) led 21-19 with 7:51 left in the first half, but the Tigers (14-6, 8-6) took a 33-30 lead with 2:48 remaining. H-SC then closed out the half on a 7-0 run to take a 40-30 advantage into the break.
The Tigers maintained their double-digit edge throughout the entire second half and lead by as many as 26 points on four different occasions.
H-SC shot 52 percent (27-of-52) from the field and was 22-of-32 from the free throw line. The Generals shot 41 percent (23-of-56) from the floor and held a 35-33 rebounding advantage.
W&L was led by sophomore forward Femi Kusimo (Charleston, W.Va./Charleston Catholic), who scored a team-high 13 points and had a game-high three blocks. Junior forward Alex White (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) tied his career-highs with 11 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore guard John Mumper (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) chipped in with nine points.
Junior guard Mike Edwards and sophomore guard Drew Prehmus each scored 15 points to lead the Tigers. Senior center Aaron Lewek added 11 points, while sophomore forward Troy Kaase chipped in with 10 points.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Lynchburg at 4:30 pm.
