LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 18th-ranked Washington and Lee women's soccer team rode three first-half goals to a 3-0 victory over Catholic University on Sunday afternoon at Watt Field.
The Generals (9-0-2) opened the scoring at 8:38 when freshman midfielder Roz Klann (Denver, Colo./George Washington) one-timed the ball in the goal off an assist from sophomore forward Anne Van Devender (Jackson, Miss./Choate Rosemary Hall).
Junior forward Martha Caulkins (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) extended the lead to 2-0 when she scored off another feed from Van Devender in the 30th minute and senior forward Anne Wiltshire (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) capped the scoring with an unassisted tally at the 33:13 mark.
The W&L defense held Catholic to just four shots in the contest en route to its 11th-straight shutout. Sophomore Kiki Moreo (Westport, Conn./Staples) played all 90 minutes in goal, recording one save.
Senior Kimberly Stengle (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Cardinals (9-4), posting eight saves.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Tuesday as it travels to Sweet Briar for a 4:00 pm contest.
