LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Head Coach Rolf Piranian amassed his 250th career win as the 22nd-ranked W&L men's soccer team knocked off Eastern Mennonite, 2-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2006 ODAC Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
In his 31st season at the helm of the program, Piranian now owns an all-time record of 250-206-33 (.545) and has been named ODAC Coach of the Year seven times.
The Generals notched both of their scores in the opening stanza, first entering the scoring column when junior midfielder Josh Dodds (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Marr) scored off a rebounded shot at 20:48. W&L upped its lead to 2-0 when junior midfielder Jamie Mallinson (Jackson, Miss./St. Andrew's Episcopal) found the back of the net off a corner kick by freshman midfielder Drew Crowley (Weston, Mass./Weston) in the 37th minute.
Junior goalkeeper Ted Sheedy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) made one save as he picked up his eighth shutout of the season. Jackson Maust (Pigeon, Mich./Laker) made 11 saves for EMU.
Washington and Lee will advance to the semifinals 2006 ODAC Tournament and will face the winner of the game between Randolph-Macon vs. Lynchburg on Friday. The game time and site have yet to be determined.
