W&L Men's Soccer Shuts Out Randolph-Macon, 4-0

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's soccer team used four second half goals to defeat Randolph-Macon, 4-0, at Watt Field on Saturday afternoon.

The match remained scoreless until junior forward Jack Palmer (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) tallied a unassisted goal in the 50th minute. The Generals extended their lead to 2-0 when senior defender Alex Phillips (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) found the back of the net at 55:39. Subsequent scores by sophomore midfielder Whitt Larkin (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) and junior midfielder Travis Short (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill) iced the game for W&L.

With the win, the Generals improve to 11-1-2 and 6-1-1 in ODAC play, while Randolph-Macon falls to 6-10 and 3-5 in conference action.

Junior goalkeeper Ted Sheedy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) made one save for W&L, while freshman Colin Royster (Johnson City, Tenn./Science Hill) played the majority of the contest in goal for R-MC, turning away five shots.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday for its final regular-season contest. The Generals take on Lynchburg at 4 pm.
