LEXINGTON, Va. – Sophomore forward Stephanie Mansey (Mendham, N.J./Randolph) tallied one goal and one assist to lead the Washington and Lee field hockey team to a 3-0 victory over DePauw on Thursday afternoon at the W&L Turf Field.
The Generals (9-4) opened the scoring when freshman defender Kelly Tran (Simsbury, Conn./Ethel Walker) found the back of the cage with an unassisted stroke at the 21:55 mark. Sophomore forward Sallie Armstrong (Houston, Texas./St. John's) added to the scoring when she slipped a shot past DU goalkeeper Liz Attewell (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu) off of a Mansey assist at the 26:45 mark. Mansey then rounded out the scoring for the Blue and White with an unassisted tally at 31:29.
Senior Tara Rubenstein (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) and sophomore Caroline Habliston (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) split time in the cage for W&L, combining to make five saves. Attewell played the entire contest for the Tigers (8-7) and registered eight saves.
W&L returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Virginia Wesleyan for a 2:00 pm game.
