HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The 18th-ranked Washington and Lee men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2006 season, 2-0, to Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday evening in Harrisonburg, Va.
The Royals got on the board in the first half when Patrick Ressler scored on a penalty kick at 30:40 to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. EMU then upped its lead to 2-0 in the second half when Andrew Gascho found the back of the net off an assist from Zach Polloni at 70:42.
Junior Ted Sheedy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) played the entire 90 minutes in the goal for the Generals, but did not make a save. Jackson Maust minded the net for EMU (6-5-3, 2-2-2 ), also registering no saves.
The Generals (9-1-1, 4-1) look to rebound from this loss on Saturday when they take on Virginia Wesleyan at 11:00 am at Watt Field in Lexington, Va.
