W&L Men's Basketball Falls to Virginia Wesleyan, 68-53

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Junior forward Brandon Adair scored a game-high 23 points to lift Virginia Wesleyan to a 68-53 victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon in Virginia Beach, Va.

The Marlins (15-3, 10-1) jumped out to a 22-10 lead at the 10:00 mark and went into halftime with a 33-24 edge.

In the second half, the Generals (2-13, 2-8) slowly chipped away at the deficit and pulled to within five points at 55-50 with 6:19 left, but Virginia Wesleyan closed the game on a 13-3 run in posting the 15-point victory.

W&L was led by freshman guard Isiah Goodman (Richfield, Minn./Holy Angels), who scored a team-high nine points. Junior guard Chris Halkitis (New Port Richey, Fla./Ridgewood) notched eight points, while sophomore forward Greg Bienemann (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) tallied eight points and 10 rebounds.

Adair was aided by sophomore forward Tyler Fantin's 20 points. Sophomore guard Ton Ton Balenga chipped in with 15 points.

Washington and Lee returns to the court on Sunday when it travels to No. 17 Randolph-Macon for a 3:00 pm contest.
