ASHLAND, Va. -- Senior guard Megan Silva tallied 29 points, 10 assists and six rebounds to lead 15th-ranked Randolph-Macon to a 91-70 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC women's basketball action on Thursday evening in Ashland, Va.
W&L (4-8, 3-6) trailed by just three points (17-14) with 11:51 remaining in the first half, but a 14-3 Yellow Jacket run over the next 7:03 gave R-MC a 31-17 lead en route to a 51-35 advantage at the break. The Generals could not cut the lead to single digits in the second half as the Yellow Jackets improved to 10-2 overall and 9-1 in the ODAC.
W&L was led by sophomore forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy), who tied a season-high with 18 points and grabbed a season-best eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Emily Wolff (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) tied her career-high with 12 points and grabbed five boards, while senior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) chipped in nine points and six assists.
Silva's effort was aided by junior guard Salem Shaffer's 18 points, nine assists and five steals. Senior forward Kristin Thompson added 12 points and five boards as R-MC shot 53.6 percent from the floor.
The Generals will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Lynchburg for a 2:00 pm contest.
