HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team defeated Eastern Mennonite, 30-15, 30-15, 30-23 on Wednesday evening at the EMU Commons to run its winning streak against ODAC opponents to 58 straight matches.
The Generals (10-3, 4-0) were led by freshman middle blocker Laurel Stewart (Charlotte, N.C./Providence), who tallied 12 kills and three blocks. Freshman outside hitter Alex Scaggs (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) notched seven kills, and senior right side Laura Byrne (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) notched six kills and eight digs. Junior libero Lauren Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) totaled 13 digs, while senior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) added 37 assists.
Eastern Mennonite (0-16, 0-4) was paced by sophomore outside hitter Courtney Miller's eight kills and five digs.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it hosts Bridgewater and Franklin & Marshall. The Generals take on the Eagles at 11:00 am, then play the Diplomats at 4:00 pm.
