W&L Volleyball Defeats Roanoke, 3-0

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team improved its winning streak against ODAC opponents to 57 straight with a 30-14, 30-13, 30-16 win over Roanoke on Tuesday evening at the Warner Center.

The Generals (6-2, 3-0) were led by freshman outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John Paul XXIII), who tallied 14 kills, five digs and three blocks. Freshman middle blockers Kassie Bagley (Midlothian, Va./James River) and Abbey Wilson (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) each totaled seven kills and three blocks, while senior right side Laura Byrne (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) added six kills, eight digs and two service aces. Senior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) registered 38 assists, six digs and three aces, and junior libero Lauren Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) amassed a team-high 10 digs.

With the loss, Roanoke fell to 8-4 overall, 2-1 in the ODAC.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday as it competes in the Emory University Classic. The Generals begin the tournament at 2:00 pm against Spring Hill College.
