LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's volleyball team improved its record to 5-2 overall, 2-0 ODAC with a pair of 3-0 victories over Randolph-Macon Woman's College and Southern Virginia on Saturday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va. The Generals defeated R-MWC, 30-16, 30-21, 30-22, before downing SVU, 30-21, 30-26, 30-13.
In the win over the WildCats (2-9, 0-2), the Generals were led by freshman outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John Paul XXIII) who notched 14 kills. Junior libero Lauren Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) tallied nine digs, while senior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) dished out 24 assists.
Against the Knights (8-2), Maurer tallied 11 kills, while senior middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) added seven kills and six blocks. Gladysz finished with 39 assists and seven digs.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Roanoke at 6:30 pm.
