ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- The Washington and Lee wrestling team finished eighth at the 2005 Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday afternoon at Muhlenberg College.
Ursinus took home the team title with 89 points, followed by McDaniel (81.5), Stevens Tech (57.5), Muhlenberg (48.5), Johns Hopkins (43.5), Kings Point (37.5), Gettysburg College (28.5), and Washington and Lee (20).
The Generals were led by sophomore Max Courtney (Jeffersonville, Pa./LaSalle College) and freshmen Jesup Sataloff (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) and Anthony Boniello (Katonah, N.Y./Somers).
Courtney went 2-2 and placed fourth at 184 pounds. He defeated Jon Freeman of Johns Hopkins by default and was pinned by Ursinus' Mike Troutman in 1:03. He responded to defeat Will Young of Stevens Tech, 11-6, but lost to Steve Jennings of McDaniel, 5-0.
Sataloff went 3-1 to take third place at 174 pounds. He lost by major decision, 10-2, to Eric Fishel of Johns Hopkins before pinning Nick LaFranz-Emberger of Stevens Tech in 4:36 and defeating Gettysburg's Dan Donnelly, 7-5 and Fishel, 7-3.
Boniello went 2-2 to finish fourth at 157 pounds. After losing his opening match, 7-5, to Danridge Giltz of Kings Point, Boniello defeated Johns Hopkins' Dustin Tamsen, 8-1 and Brian Saval of Muhlenberg by default before losing McDaniel's Mikey Blake, 10-6.
The Generals concluded their season with a 5-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in the Centennial Conference.
