W&L Women’s Basketball Drops Heartbreaker To Guilford, 65-60

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Junior guard Jennifer King scored a game-high 19 points to lead Guilford to a 65-60 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC women's basketball action on Wednesday evening in Greensboro, N.C.

The Quakers (10-14, 8-11) used a 14-0 run late in the first half to assume a 33-17 lead with 2:31 remaining. W&L then responded with an 8-0 to cut the deficit to 33-25 at the break.

Guilford began the second half with another small run to take a 43-29 lead at the 15:54 mark, but W&L again fought back with a 20-5 run to take a 49-48 lead with 7:12 left in the game. The contest would remain close from that point on until Guilford claimed a six-point lead (58-52) with 2:35 remaining. The Generals climbed back to within 61-59 with 54 seconds remaining, but King hit four free throws in the final minute to ice the game.

W&L (12-12, 8-11) was led by junior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill), who scored 15 points. She hit two three-pointers to set a new W&L record for season three-point makes with 41. Sophomore center Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) notched 12 points and 12 rebounds, while senior forward Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) and freshman forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy) each added nine points.

Senior forward Courtney Hill and sophomore guard Dionne Graham joined King in double-figures for Guilford. Hill posted 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Graham registered 16 points.

Washington and Lee completes its regular season with a home date against Emory & Henry on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
