W&L Women's Basketball Downs Hollins, 63-43

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee opened up the second half on a 21-0 run in cruising to a 63-43 victory over Hollins in ODAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center.

The Generals (12-11, 8-10) jumped out to an 18-6 lead with 13:27 remaining in the first half, but Hollins (7-15, 3-14) closed out the half on a 22-11 run to take a 28-27 lead into the break.

W&L went on the aforementioned run to start the second stanza and held Hollins scoreless for the first 8:56 of the half.

The Generals were 27-for-60 (.450) from the field and held a 44-24 advantage on the boards. Hollins was just 16-for-50 (.320) from the floor, including 5-for-22 (.227) in the second half.

W&L was led by sophomore center Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School), who notched a double-double with game-highs of 25 points and 15 rebounds. She also had a game-high four blocks. Freshman forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy) tallied 12 points and seven rebounds, while senior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe) had eight points and a game-high five assists.

Hollins received 15 points, four rebounds, and five steals from freshman forward Nicole Grant (South Boston, Va./Carlisle). Senior guard Brandi Cochran (Hillsville, Va./Carroll County) chipped in with 10 points and four boards.

W&L returns to the court on Wednesday for a 7:00 pm game at Guilford.
