W&L Men's Basketball Falls to Eastern Mennonite, 90-76

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Sophomore guard Jason Sager scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds to help lead Eastern Mennonite to a 90-76 victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC men's basketball action on Saturday night in Harrisonburg, Va.

The Generals (2-22, 0-17) led 10-9 with 15:30 remaining in the first half, but the Royals (12-11, 8-9) went on a 25-10 run to take a 34-20 lead with 4:40 left in the opening half. EMU would go into halftime with a 38-28 advantage and maintain its double-digit lead throughout the second half.

W&L was 29-for-64 (.453) from the field, but committed 16 turnovers. The Royals were 28-of-58 (.483) from the floor and outscored the Generals 27-15 at the free throw line.

The Generals were led by freshman forward Greg Bienemann (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), who scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed six rebounds. Freshman forward Femi Kusimo (Charleston, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) scored a career-high 18 points and snatched a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Chris Halkitis (New Port Richey, Fla./Ridgewood) chipped in 13 points and dished out a team-high four assists.

Sager was complemented by freshman guard Brad Parkes, who tallied 17 points and five rebounds. Freshman guard Korey Whiting added 15 points and six rebounds.

W&L finishes the regular season at Guilford on Tuesday evening. The game starts at 7:00 pm.
