W&L Wrestling Finishes Seventh at the Scranton Invitational

SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Washington and Lee wrestling team finished seventh out of nine teams at the Scranton Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

The College of New Jersey won the invitational with 168 points and was followed by McDaniel (139), Stevens Tech (85), King's College (69.5), Lycoming (56), University of Scranton (53.5), W&L (44), Centenary (35.5) and Elizabethtown (17).

The Generals were led by sophomore Jesup Sataloff (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) and junior Max Courtney (Jeffersonville, Pa./LaSalle College), who finished fourth in the 174-pound and 184-pound weight class, respectively.

Sataloff pinned Mike Mariano of King's College in 3:21 and then lost to Greg Osgoodby of The College of New Jersey, 5-0. Sataloff recovered to defeat Stevens Tech's Colin McAuliffe, 22-5, but fell 3-2 to Centenary's Seth Wisner in the third place match.

Courtney defeated Mike O'Hara of King's College 6-5 before falling 6-0 to Pat Cross of the College of New Jersey. Courtney then won a 2-1 decision over Stevens Tech's Pasquale Perrone, but lost to McDaniel's Cory Beall 1-0 in the third place match.

The Generals return to the mat on Sat., Jan 7 as it hosts the W&L Quadrangular against Waynesburg College, Gettysburg College and Wilkes University. The meet begins at 11:00 am.
