W&L Women's Basketball Falls To No. 10 Randolph-Macon, 68-58

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 10th-ranked Randolph-Macon women's basketball team had four players score in double figures in defeating Washington and Lee, 68-58, in ODAC action on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center.

The Yellow Jackets (3-1, 2-0) led 27-12 with 6:18 remaining in the first half, but the Generals (1-4, 0-2) went on a 17-4 run to pull within two points (31-29) with 55 seconds left in the half. R-MC went into halftime with a 34-29 edge after junior guard Salem Shaffer (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) hit a three-pointer as the first half expired.

In the second half, W&L again got within two points (41-39) on a jumper by sophomore forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy) at the 14:29 mark, but the Yellow Jackets pushed their lead out to 11 points (57-46) with 5:29 remaining en route to the win.

Krouchick finished with a team-high 18 points, a team-best four assists, and four rebounds. Junior center Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) added 17 points, seven rebounds and a game-high five blocks, while sophomore guard Emily Wolff (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) chipped in with career-highs of 10 points and eight rebounds.

R-MC was led by senior guard Megan Silva's (Glen Allen, Va./Hermitage) 19 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Senior forward Michelle Orton (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) notched 14 points and eight rebounds, while Shaffer finished with 11 points and six boards.

Washington and Lee returns to the court on Sunday when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan at 2:00 pm.
