VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Benjamin Yoder scored a goal and added an assist to give the seventh-seeded Eastern Mennonite men's soccer team a 2-1 win over third-seeded Washington and Lee in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament on Friday evening in Virginia Beach, Va.
Yoder gave the Royals (10-7-3) a 1-0 lead at the 13:58 mark when he scored off an assist from Andrew Moore. EMU extended to a 2-0 advantage at 31:42 when Yoder feed Junior Kamandua, who put his shot into the back of the Generals' net. W&L junior midfielder Rhett McCraw (Greenville, S.C./Christ Church Episcopal) pulled the Generals to within 2-1 at 43:29 when he scored off a penalty kick, but the Generals where unable to score the equalizer in the second half.
Both teams fired off 13 shots, while W&L held a 3-0 edge in corner kicks.
W&L sophomore goalkeeper Ted Sheedy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) made four saves, while Tim Koehn stopped five shots for the Royals.
Washington and Lee finishes its season with a 9-6-2 record.
