W&L Women's Soccer Defeats Guilford, 1-0

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Washington and Lee freshman midfielder Kate Corr (Shrewsbury, N.J./Red Bank Regional) scored off an assist from senior midfielder Gina Von Sternberg (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) just 2:57 into the second half to lift the Generals to a 1-0 win over Guilford in ODAC women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.

The shutout was the Generals' fifth in a row and seventh overall for the 2005 season. Freshman Kiki Moreo (Westport, Conn./Staples) played all 90 minutes in goal for W&L (7-1-2, 6-0-1), stopping two shots. Danielle Brisotti also played the entire goal between the posts for Guilford (7-4-1, 3-3-0), notching two saves.

For the game, W&L outshot the Quakers, 12-7, and held a 14-0 advantage on corner kicks.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Roanoke for a 1:00 pm contest.
