LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior forward Jane Beall (Richmond, Va./James River) and junior forward Amy Volkmann (Norfolk, Va./Granby) each scored a goal to give Washington and Lee a 2-0 victory over Roanoke in ODAC field hockey action on Wednesday evening at the W&L Turf Field.

The Generals (5-5, 4-1) took a 1-0 lead at the 7:18 mark when Beall scored off a pass from sophomore midfielder Kendall Korte (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox). The score remained 1-0 until Volkmann notched an unassisted goal at 47:19.

W&L outshot the Maroons, 10-0, and held a 17-2 advantage in penalty corners.

Senior goalkeepers Courtney Harrison (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) and Elise Gelinas (Gladwyne, Pa./Agnes Irwin) each played 35 minutes for the Generals. Sophomore netminder Lindsay Paz (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) made seven saves for Roanoke (3-10, 1-3).

Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday at Mary Washington for a 4:30 pm contest.
