ASHLAND, Va. -- Senior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) amassed 50 assists, 16 digs, seven kills and three service aces to lead Washington and Lee to a 3-1 win over Randolph-Macon in ODAC volleyball action on Tuesday evening.
The Generals dropped the first game, 30-24, but came back to win the final three games by scores of 30-27, 30-15 and 30-13.
Freshman outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John Paul XXIII) notched 15 kills and senior middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) had 13 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Hudock (Tampa, Fla./Holy Names) posted 11 kills and 10 digs, while freshman middle blocker Laurel Stewart (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) tallied 10 kills and five blocks. Additionally, senior right side Laura Byrne (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) notched nine kills and 18 digs, while junior libero Lauren Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) and senior outside hitter Ashleigh Overly (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) added 25 and 24 digs, respectively.
W&L improved to 13-3 overall, 6-0 in the ODAC, while Randolph-Macon fell to 13-3 overall and 6-1 in the ODAC.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday as it competes in the Averett Invitational. The Generals take on Queens University at 6:00 pm and the host Cougars at 8:00 pm.
