W&L Volleyball Defeats Emory & Henry, 3-0

EMORY, Va. -- Washington and Lee amassed 56 assists in defeating Emory & Henry, 30-11, 30-20, 30-25, in ODAC volleyball action on Tuesday evening.

The assist total is tied for eighth all-time in Division III for a three-game match. Senior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) did her part by tallying 39 assists and a pair of aces in just two games. Sophomore setter Lauren Rudolph (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) added 14 assists and 12 digs.

Freshman outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John Paul XXIII) was the recipient of most of the assists, totaling 14 kills and a pair of aces in just two games. Freshman outside hitter Alex Scaggs (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) notched 10 kills and four blocks in two games, while senior right side Laura Byrne (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) posted seven kills and 11 digs in two games. Junior libero Lauren Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) added 16 digs.

With the win, W&L improved to 21-3 overall and 9-0 in the ODAC. The Generals win streak against ODAC opponents also extended to 63 straight matches with the win. Emory & Henry fell to 10-11, 3-6 in the ODAC.

Washington and Lee will return to the court on Friday as it hosts the Generals Classic. W&L will play St. Mary's of Maryland at 5:30 pm and Maryville at 8:00 pm.
