LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's volleyball team improved its record to 20-3 overall, 8-0 ODAC with a 3-1 win over Virginia Wesleyan and a 3-0 victory over Southern Virginia on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center. The Generals defeated VWC, 24-30, 30-20, 30-17, 30-18 before downing SVU, 30-18, 30-15, 30-17.
In the win over the Marlins (15-9, 6-2), the Generals were led by senior middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) and freshman outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John Paul XXIII), who notched 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Junior libero Lauren Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) tallied a school-record 33 digs, while senior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) amassed a season-high 58 assists and 12 digs.
Against the Knights (15-6), Maurer had 10 kills and six digs, while freshman middle blocker Kassie Bagley (Midlothian, Va./James River) notched six blocks. Gladysz finished with 29 assists and 16 digs.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Emory & Henry for a 7:00 pm contest.
