BLUEFIELD, Va. -- Sophomore forward Jack Palmer (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) scored two goals to give the Washington and Lee men's soccer team a 2-0 win over Bluefield on Friday evening in Bluefield, Va.
Palmer tallied an unassisted goal in the 39th minute to give W&L a 1-0 lead which it would take into halftime.
Palmer then ended the scoring in the 52nd minute when he scored off a pass from freshman defender Fletcher McCraw (Greenville, S.C./Christ Church Episcopal).
W&L outshot the Rams, 5-0, and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
W&L sophomore goalkeeper Ted Sheedy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) played the entire game to pick up his fourth win of the season. Senior netminder Dave Turpin also played the entire game and made three saves for Bluefield.
With the win the Generals improve to 6-4-2, while the Rams fell to 6-7.
Washington and Lee returns to the field on Tuesday when it hosts Roanoke at 4:00 pm.
