EMORY, Va. -- Junior forward Anne Wiltshire (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) and sophomore forward Shana Oltmans (Albuquerque, N.M./Valley) each scored two scored goals and added an assist to lift Washington and Lee to a 7-0 win over Emory & Henry in ODAC women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon in Emory, Va.
The Generals (6-1-2, 5-0-1) took at 1-0 lead with 8:43 gone-by when senior midfielder Gina Von Sternberg (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) scored off a pass from junior midfielder Cara Burton (Spring, Texas/Klein Oak). Wiltshire extended the lead to 2-0 at 16:43 on a goal off a feed from freshman forward Erica Giordano (Cranford, N.J./Mount Saint Mary Academy).
W&L then scored three goals in a span of 2:47 to take a 5-0 advantage into halftime. Oltmans started the scoring spree off an assist from Wiltshire at 30:27. Wiltshire then notched her second goal off a pass from Oltmans at 32:43 and freshman forward Anne Van Devender (Jackson, Miss./Choate Rosemary Hall) ended the spurt with a tally at 33:14 off an assist from sophomore forward Martha Caulkins (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass).
In the second half, Van Devender feed Oltmans for her second goal of the game at 54:00 and senior defender Conner Esworthy (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) ended the scoring with an unassisted tally at 73:39.
W&L freshman goalkeeper Kiki Moreo (Westport, Conn./Staples) and junior netminder Emily Binns (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) combined to make one save, while freshman Emily Kirby and sophomore Meredith Ledford combined to stop 11 shots for the Wasps (5-4-1, 1-3).
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday at Guilford. The game begins at 4:00 pm.
