W&L Men's Basketball Defeated by Emory & Henry, 71-56

EMORY, Va. -- Sophomore guard Korey Townsend scored a game-high 18 points to help lead Emory & Henry to a 71-56 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC men's basketball action on Wednesday night in Emory, Va.

The Wasps (6-11, 3-7) took a 29-24 lead into halftime and then opened up the second half on an 18-6 run to extend their advantage to 47-30 with 14:48 remaining. The Generals (2-17, 0-12) responded with a 13-0 spurt to slice the deficit to four points at 47-43 with 8:21 left in the game. However, E&H methodically pushed the lead back out to double digits en route to the 15-point win.

W&L was 21-for-51 (.412) from the floor, but committed 19 turnovers. The Wasps were 21-for-56 (.375) from the field, including 7-for-16 (.438) from three-point range, and only had 12 turnovers.

The Generals were led by freshman forward Colton Braud (Houston, Texas/James Taylor), who tied a career-high with 11 points, on 5-for-6 shooting and grabbed six rebounds. Sophomore guard Chris Halkitis (New Port Richey, Fla./Ridgewood) notched 10 points and handed out a game-high six assists, while freshman forward Femi Kusimo (Charleston, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) chipped in with 10 points.

Townsend was helped out by sophomore guard Lance Reasbeck, who tallied 10 points and five rebounds.

W&L returns to the court on Saturday when it hosts Roanoke. The game begins at 7:00 pm.
